Conversations With My Mom

Well another few weeks have passed and our little guy is now beyond the two month mark.  He did great during his 2 month checkup and even during his shots (mom cried longer than baby).  Brooks has definitely been busy catching up on his weight and height.  He is now 12 pounds, 4 ounces, and 23 inches long.  He loves to eat and we are thankful!  He has had some issues with acid reflux and colic, which can make some days seem longer than others.  But he has started taking some medicine for the reflux that seems to be helping a little.  He also will be going to a pediatric cardiologist this week to check out a heart murmur that he has.  They think it is harmless, but want to be cautious, so please keep us in your prayers this week.

Brooks has started to be much more alert and communicative with us.  He will coo, talk, and smile at us, which just absolutely melts our hearts.  He LOVES bathtime, going for walks in the stroller, and rocking in the chair outside.  He loves to listen to the sound of running water and look up into bright lights.  He is not much of a napper (unless he is being held), but he does sleep great at night, only waking up to nurse and go right back to sleep.  Unfortunately, Brooks loves to be up with the sun.  So between 5 and 5:30 every morning, Brooks wants to get up and play.  It's hard to be annoyed when I have this amazing little boy smiling and cooing at me!!!  He is always happiest first thing in the morning and after his bath each night.  We really treasure those special times of the day around here. 

We are starting to really settle in here.  Dave is loving his new job (and all of the charity golf tournaments he has to play in).  I am loving being able to be home with Brooks and feel so blessed to spend my days with him.  We have found a church that we have been attending, and have met some really nice people.  I am even keeping the 3 little girls that live next door once or twice a week.  Dave has joined a Monday night golf league.  He also plays softball once a week with his brother and a bunch of the other coaches.  The weather here has been amazing, about 70-80 degrees each day, so we love to go watch them play when we can!

My parents recently came for a visit and I loved being able to show them around where we are living.  It was an awesome visit, and by the time they left, Dave and I were spoiled rotten.  Between my dad cooking all of our meals, and my mom helping with the baby and cleaning the house, it was just too great!  We were sad to see them go, but excited that they will be back in a couple of months.

Dave's mom, dad, and sister are all headed back up to visit this month and we are really looking forward to some family time with them.  Brooks will get to finally meet Auntie Erin.

And oh yea - I am officially a minivan momma now - and proud of it!  We have traded in Dave's Acadia for a used minivan.  Life is so much easier with a car seat when you don't have to open a wide door!!!  Even Dave loves driving it!!!

Well - I guess that's about it for now.  I better go finish those thank you notes that I have been trying to finish for 2 months now!!!
